4/5/16Maple Cream has always been our most spoiled goat by far. When I first saw her photo, a tiny little moonspotted, blue eyed stunner, I knew I had to have her.Maple remained a very petite doeling, so we waited for her to grow and mature so that she would be big enough and healthy enough to handle having babies. When our vet gave us the go-ahead, we were incredibly excited, but still very apprehensive.A Maple moved into her expected delivery dates, we waited. And waited. The one day I could not leave work to assist with her delivery was Tuesday. When Tuesday finally arrived, I knew that would be the day.Sure enough, right before lunch, my husband let me know Maple was progressing. I watched the camera and worried. I knew he was nervous after his delivery without me there. And then a friend showed up to take me to lunch.As I tried to eat and chat with my friend, I was distracted with worry, and texts and phone calls. I couldn't see the barn cam at the restaurant. By the end of lunch, Maple had delivered a set of twins, a doeling and a buckling, flawlessly.While I was very disappointed that I couldn't be there, I was relieved that my husband had this kidding go so well without me and boost his confidence a bit. Maple even gave me a blue eyed, moonspotted doeling as requested. All kiddings should be this smooth.
